Gift Guide For Travelers

It’s looking a lot like Christmas!

Well, maybe not quite yet, but I am coming at you with some gift ideas for your travel enthusiastic friends. I try not to be one of those people that go shopping for Christmas presents one day before Christmas. It happened once and I hated it. I didn’t know what to get and there were like a million people in the shops, it was almost impossible to find my way through the aisles. Anyways, this is a rather unusual gift guide, so you won’t find typical things such as “headphones”, “travel pillows” or “eye masks”. So here it is:

♦ THE CONSCIOUS GIFT GUIDE FOR TRAVELERS ♦

Photo book

A really nice idea is to create a photo book with their best pictures for someone or simply gift them a voucher to create one themselves. Your traveler friends will appreciate having their memories printed in paper and being able to relive those special moments all over again.

Donation:

I have seen so many stray dog and cats, chained elephants and people who don’t treat their pets right. I have volunteered in many shelters and one of the best gifts (at least in my opinion) is to donate to some good cause in the name of your family or friends. Of course, there are many amazing projects to donate your money to. Here are some of my favorite, where I am sure to money is used to help:

For animals in need:

For humans in need:

  • Be Aware and Share, Switzerland – Help refugees (a friend of mine has volunteered over 2 years at this organization)
  • Cadus, Germany – Solidarity with Rojava
  • ECC School, Cambodia (volunteered in 2019)
  • Swiss Red Cross, Switzerland – Help fighting leukemia (next to donating money to SRC, I am also a registered blood stem cell donor)

For our mother earth:

Poster / Print

Similar to the photo book idea is this one where you can print a photograph taken by your traveler friends. Make it a poster, frame it or print it on canvas. It’s super nice to have something hanging on your wall that you have a relationship to and sparks so many memories.

Gift Cards & Vouchers

Some people might find this a dull gift idea, however as a traveler myself, I find gift cards super handy. Most of the time you’re travelling on a budget and having someone paying for your Netflix, Spotify, Audible etc. is convenient.

Vouchers also make for great gifts. How about giving a voucher to someone for a train ride? If you live in Europe a 4 hour train ride can already take you to another country! Of course, it can also just be a day trip that you take together, maybe go hiking or explore a city nearby. There are so many possibilities.

Subscription

A huge fan of the National Geographic magazine myself, a yearly subscription would be a super cool gift to me. They also have Traveler edition, which matches this post perfectly. Additionally, there are magazines for Kids too. So, I’ve even got your little traveler buddys covered there;)

Another great idea (and it’s totally free too) is to share my blog with all the travel enthusiasts you know, so they get inspired to plan their next trip 😉

Merry Gifting!

Pin it for later.
